So back in December 2015 I decided to bite the bullet and asked my dad to give up his DNA in the hope that it might provide the evidence I need to break away more of brick wall that his family has become. Given that we are attempting to locate his family including his father I decided to go with the YDNA test. I don’t know much about these test work but I do know that males inherit their YDNA from their fathers who inherit it from their father and so on. Since YDNA passes from father to son down the generations and since we are looking for my dad’s family including his father; he was my first logical choice.
We went with the rub your check test which recommends you give two samples on two different days for the best results which he did. I dropped the samples in the mail in early Dec; the same day we did the second test; than nothing. For a while I was worried that the samples were lost in the mail. Then over a month later they confirmed they received the test. YEAH! So that is how the status remained for several days. That was just about two weeks ago so I just logged in today to see if we have any matches yet but guess what. We are still AWAITING RESULTS…… My dad’s results are not expected to be done until between February 10 and February 24. So I guess I have to continue to wait for the results and hope that someone in his line has given up their DNA for a match as well.
