Boy time sure does fly by! Where have you been????

It has been quite some time since I last posted. In fact, it has been over 2 years. Well what can I say?  Life happened and I became very very overwhelmed. Between work. two kids, all of their activities and me finishing my degree and just life in general who could blame me. Our family as a whole has celebrated additions to the family as well as mourned a few losses; we have celebrated major milestones such as new homes; marriages; new jobs; graduations and even my cousins acceptance into law school.

Posting to my blog was always has always been on my "to do list" however with each passing day I seemed to push it further and further down the list until it simply feel by the wayside. It was never my intent to neglect my blog however for me at least FAMILY IS FIRST; I'd rather take the time to experience life's moments in the here and now rather than to read about them many years later.

At any rate, while not blogging I still kept up with my research and the world of genealogy. In some regards there has been lightening speed progress yet in others only snail pace progress. I have joined National Genealogical Society and the Association of Professional Genealogists. Over the last several years I have taken several genealogy courses and webinars. I have taken on a few clients; all non-paying ones; for the time being. I have applied to volunteer a few days a month for the Maryland State Archives. If accepted this will allow me to gain more experience working with documents and how to handle client request. Hopefully that experience will give me the confidence to start charging clients for my time.

My research has allowed me to expand some lines by leaps and bounds, yet only allowed me to chip away at others. It has allowed me to find a few surprises along the way, mostly good but a few sad ones as well. Without those discoveries; good; bad, ugly what fun would genealogy be? We are who we are because of those who came before us. What comes next for me? Well I guess you will just have to follow along to see where journey takes me.
